Crosland Southeast to Break Ground on Mixed-Use Development at The Exchange at Indian Land

Crosland Southeast is set to begin construction this fall on a 400-unit apartment complex at The Exchange at Indian Land. The development, located at 8918 Charlotte Highway, will feature a mix of residential and commercial offerings.

According to the Charlotte Business Journal, major retailers Costco Wholesale Corp. and Lowes Foods are expected to open in the fourth quarter of this year. Additional smaller retail spaces are projected to open as early as 2026. Crosland is partnering with FCP on this expansive mixed-use project.

Costco acquired a 28-acre parcel within The Exchange for $6.4 million last year, where it will operate on an outparcel of the development. The full project will include not only the apartments but also 320 townhomes and a total of 115,000 square feet of commercial space. Lowes Foods will serve as the primary anchor tenant.

Future plans for the site may also include facilities for the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), which is developing a new hospital in Indian Land and is exploring opportunities for an additional location nearby.

This ambitious project marks a significant step forward for Indian Land’s ongoing growth and is indicative of the increasing demand for integrated residential and retail developments in the Charlotte metro area.
