The demand for residential solar panels is on the rise, with manufacturers in metro Atlanta leading the way. Qcells and Suniva have recently announced plans to expand their factories, resulting in a projected 2,000 new jobs for the region.
Qcells’s $2.3 billion factory located in Cartersville is set to begin production soon and will provide employment opportunities for approximately 2,000 workers. In addition, Suniva has resumed operations at its Norcross plant after receiving funding through the Inflation Reduction program following a bankruptcy filing. The first phase of this project will create up to 240 jobs.
According to reports from Atlanta Business Journal, Georgia has seen a significant increase of 25% in solar job growth over five years until 2022. The state currently boasts over 5,382 solar jobs including more than1 ,300 positions within manufacturing companies.
This news highlights the growing success of Atlanta-area solar panel providers and their contribution towards creating thousands of new job opportunities within this industry.
