For over eight decades, the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) has been providing leadership in the industrial and office sectors. Recently, SIOR was named a Top CRE Real Estate Brand in the annual Lipsey Top 25 Commercial Real Estate Brand Survey. Additionally, rumors have it that SIOR has been breaking several other records as well. CEO Robert Thornburgh recently spoke about what is driving this reinvention process and how it impacts its membership.
Thornburgh explained that while they are proud of their rich history, given today’s business environment they recognized the need to raise their relevance in the marketplace by futureproofing early on with an entirely new executive team coming together to build a five-year vision ensuring SIOR remains “the disruptor not disrupted” while continuing to reflect excellence within industrial and office real estate markets globally. He also noted some challenges encountered during self-reflection but stated that if you are an optimist then challenges can become opportunities; hence why there was no bad ideas policy adopted for discussion purposes during this process – all necessary steps taken towards influencing meaningful change for memberships’ benefit .
The organization’s key principles remain firmly intact such as character integrity & expertise of those holding its designation which will not waver amidst reinvention efforts already 18 months underway boasting fresh look & energy along with renewed focus impacting everything from leveraging latest technology investments into industry leading education support tools mentorship partnerships diversity etc.. Early wins include largest number ever new members 45% increase from industry partners 11% growth international 17% female member associates 7 female board directors 97% retention rate highest ever plus more opportunities around corner! Communication transformation being shared via added resources deeper relationships impactful global conferences making good on promises/vision implemented thus far!
