**Costco and Sprouts Expanding in Southeast Tucson**
Costco and Sprouts Farmers Market are set to expand their presence in the Tucson metro area, with both retailers opening new locations in the rapidly growing Vail community, southeast of Tucson.
Costco’s new store will mark its fourth location in the Tucson area. Plans recently filed with the City of Tucson outline a 158,000-square-foot warehouse to be developed on a 22-acre site at 9688 E. Old Vail Road, near South Houghton Road.
Sprouts will anchor a new retail center located at the intersection of Houghton and Old Vail roads. The project is currently being marketed by local developers Larsen Baker.
The area is seeing significant growth and development. It is already home to major employers such as Raytheon, the University of Arizona Tech Park, and the Target Distribution Center.
Vail has a population nearing 16,000, while the neighboring Rita Ranch area adds approximately 12,000 residents. The region continues to expand, with hundreds of new homes currently under construction.
These additions by Costco and Sprouts reflect the increasing demand for retail and grocery options as the southeastern portion of Tucson continues to grow.
