"Converting 8-Story High Point Office Building into Apartments"

Echelon Resources Inc. and LBD Investments have announced their plans to redevelop Showplace West/One Plaza Center into a complex of market-rate apartments and approximately 9,000 square feet of retail space.

The building, located at 101 S. Main St., was originally constructed in 1971 as an eight-story concrete office building spanning over 135,000 square feet. In 2019, International Market Centers donated the property to Downtown High Point after acquiring it for $1.49 million in 2011. Recently added to the National Register of Historic Places, this former office building is now set for a new chapter.

With expertise in revitalizing historic structures, Echelon Resources will lead the redevelopment project while working closely with EDB – a company specializing in mixed-use developments and historic renovations throughout the Southeast region.

This announcement marks another successful transformation by Echelon Resources who has previously repurposed numerous buildings including factories, mills warehouses schools and residential properties into modern living spaces that preserve their unique historical character.

Stay tuned for updates on this exciting development as it progresses towards completion!
