Construction has commenced on the transformation of North DeKalb Mall into a vibrant, mixed-use district by retail developer Edens. The 73-acre property will be rebranded as Lulah Hills and offer a pedestrian-friendly environment.
The redevelopment project includes the addition of 1,700 apartments, 100 townhomes, and approximately 320,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. In total, the development will span over 2.5 million square feet at the intersection of North Druid Hills Road and Lawrenceville Highway near Decatur. The existing AMC theater will remain open during construction.
Edens acquired North DeKalb Mall for $43 million in September 2021 with plans to revitalize it into a modern destination for residents and visitors alike. In summer of next year (2022), after receiving approval from the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners for their proposed plans, Edens was granted $70 million in tax incentives by the DeKalb Development Authority.
