"Conversion of Historic Boys Club Building in Worcester Begins with WinnDevelopment and WNC"

Construction has begun on The Residences on Lincoln Square in downtown Worcester, MA, a joint project between WinnDevelopment and WNC & Associates. This senior residential community will transform the historic three-story Lincoln Square Boys Club building into 16 affordable housing units and also construct a new five-story building with an additional 64 units.

The two buildings will be connected by a single-story glass enclosure on the ground floor, providing convenient access for residents. The development is specifically designed for seniors aged 55+ and is expected to be completed in April of 2026 at an estimated cost of $70 million.

Originally built between 1928-1930, the vacant Lincoln Square Boys Club building is located in the Worcester Institutional District. Financing for this project includes low-income housing tax credits as well as federal and state historic credits. Construction financing is being provided by Rockland Trust while permanent financing comes from Massachusetts Housing Partnership; soft financing from both city and state sources will also contribute to funding this development.

This exciting collaboration between WinnDevelopment and WNC & Associates marks an important step towards preserving historical architecture while providing much-needed affordable housing options for seniors in downtown Worcester.
