**Amazon Breaks Ground on New Distribution Facility in Round Rock**
Amazon has commenced site work on a new 223,285-square-foot distribution center located at 2801 County Road 172 in Round Rock, Texas. The project sits on 149 acres of land the company acquired in 2021 and represents an investment of up to $72 million.
The facility is expected to employ as many as 200 workers, with vertical construction anticipated to begin before the end of 2025. Amazon aims to begin operations at the site in 2026. In addition to the warehouse, plans hint at the possible development of a data center on the property.
This new facility will complement Amazon’s existing 442,000-square-foot distribution center at 3100 Chisholm Trail Road in Round Rock. The tech and logistics giant currently operates more than 90 warehouse properties across Texas.
Among its largest operations is the HOU6 fulfillment center in Houston, which opened in 2021. Spanning 3.7 million square feet, the facility employs approximately 3,000 people and has the capacity to store over 40 million packages.
