**Work Progresses on $5 Billion Dallas Medical Campus**
Construction is now underway on the expansive new medical campus for UT Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Health. Spanning 33 acres, the project will feature two 12-story towers, an eight-story building, a new fetal care center, and more than 20 acres of green space.
Once completed, the state-of-the-art healthcare facility is expected to open with 552 beds and will replace the existing Children’s Medical Center Dallas. Site preparation began in earnest following the groundbreaking last October. Work currently includes the operation of two of the eventual nine tower cranes, soil removal, and pier drilling. The entire development will comprise 4.7 million square feet of building space.
The project is being designed by HKS Inc. in collaboration with Perkins & Will, while construction is being overseen by the McCarthy Vaughn Partnership. Now that the development has moved past the three-year planning phase, more detailed design plans are expected to be released in the near future.
This massive initiative aims to redefine pediatric and maternal healthcare in the Dallas region through its cutting-edge facilities and expansive, patient-focused design.
