Construction has begun on a 167-key Residence Inn by Marriott at the Northgate Station redevelopment in Seattle. Scheduled to open in 2025, this is the first hotel to be built at Northgate Station and will join the newly upgraded light rail bus station and Kraken Community Iceplex, which serves as both an official training facility for the NHL’s Seattle Kraken team and a regional hub for ice sports in the Pacific Northwest.
The multi-stage development will continue this year with plans to open a new recreational area during summer 2021. According to Patrick Peterman, SVP of Development & Mixed Use at Simon: “This mixed-use, transit-oriented development will create a sustainable and vibrant live/work/play/stay experience for not only Northgate Station but also its surrounding community.”
Originally opened back in 1950 as Northgate Mall, it is expected that upon completion of its redevelopment 1,200 apartments along with office space shall be added.
