"Construction Begins on Fourth Cruise Terminal at Galveston Port"

Construction has begun on the Port of Galveston’s fourth cruise terminal, a joint project between Galveston Wharves and MSC Cruises, the world’s third-largest cruise line based in Switzerland.

The $151 million development at Pier 16 will consist of a 165,000-square-foot terminal and a $55 million parking garage. The port is funding this project through its cash reserves and revenue bonds. As part of their agreement with the port, MSC will operate the new terminal for 20 years with options to extend for four additional five-year periods.

The anticipated completion date for this project is November 2025 when MSC Seascape will become homeported at the new facility. This marks Galveston as MSC’s fourth homeport in the United States alongside Miami, Port Canaveral in Florida, and New York City.

MSC Seascape is part of their Seaside class ships designed specifically for Caribbean cruising with larger outdoor spaces. Launched in 2022, it can accommodate up to 5
