Construction has begun on a new $69 million distribution center for Continental Tire in Fort Worth. The facility, which is expected to be operational by 2026, will cover 752,000 square feet and include 7,500 square feet of support offices. It will have the capacity to store over 800,000 tires and is being built by Hillwood with design work from Dallas-based GSR Andrade Architects.
The state-of-the-art distribution center will feature advanced automation technology and sustainable elements such as solar panels. It has been designed with future expansion in mind.
Continental Tires is a global company headquartered in Germany with over 190,000 employees across 61 countries and more than half a thousand locations. Their American operations are based out of Fort Mill, South Carolina but they serve the entire U.S market through seven different distribution centers.
The exact number of jobs that will be created at this new facility has not yet been disclosed by the company.
