**Chelsea Creek Waterfront Project Breaks Ground in Chelsea, MA**
The City of Chelsea, Massachusetts, in partnership with parking solution provider InterPark/PreFlight, has officially broken ground on the Chelsea Creek Waterfront Project. The initiative marks a significant step toward increasing public access to the waterfront, enhancing climate resiliency, and opening opportunities for future commercial development in the area.
“This project lays the foundation for something even more transformative,” said Chelsea City Manager Fidel Maltez during the ceremony. “It creates the framework necessary for PreFlight to redevelop the site, envisioning new industrial and commercial buildings rising out of what are now parking lots—bringing with them good-paying jobs, much-needed tax revenue, and greater access to our waterfront.”
The development will revitalize the 22.65-acre PreFlight site located along Chelsea Creek. A new pedestrian walkway will connect Eastern Avenue’s sidewalk with a scenic waterfront viewing area. The observation area is designed to celebrate the site’s maritime heritage, featuring reclaimed granite block seating and a historic anchor installation.
This transformative project reflects Chelsea’s broader efforts to improve resiliency infrastructure while also promoting economic growth and community connectivity.
