Balcones Resources is undertaking a major project to construct a 200,000 square foot recycling facility near the intersection of Loop 410 and Freeport Road in San Antonio. The plant will be able to process 50 tons of material per hour and Balcones has been contracted by the City Council for $113.6 million, with $47 million allocated towards construction costs. It is expected that over 15 years, the city will net more than $100 million from 25% proceeds generated from sale of recycled materials while Balcones receives 75%. Upon completion in August 2024, 70 people are expected to be hired for operation at this site. Houston-based Kingham Dalton Wilson Ltd., serves as design/build firm attached to this project.
