A consortium spearheaded by the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) and the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) has been selected to design and operate “BATWorks,” a new climate innovation hub located at the Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT) in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

The approximately 200,000-square-foot facility will serve as an incubator for climate-focused startups, offering them space to build products, prototype technology, and conduct research and development. With this initiative, BATWorks aims to become a central hub for advancing clean technologies and promoting economic growth in New York City.

“BATWorks, a cutting-edge climate innovation hub at the Brooklyn Army Terminal, will unlock new opportunities for startups and entrepreneurs, advance new innovative climate solutions, fuel job growth and strengthen Brooklyn’s working waterfront — all while training New Yorkers of all backgrounds for green-collar jobs,” said Andrew Kimball, President and CEO of the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

The NYCEDC has committed a $100 million investment to support the development of BATWorks, which is projected to create more than 600 jobs, serve over 150 startups across the next decade, and generate approximately $2.6 billion in economic impact for the city.
