Completion of Kaiser Borsari Hall by Western Washington University

Western Washington University (WWU) has reached a significant milestone with the completion of Kaiser Borsari Hall, an innovative educational facility. This state-of-the-art building not only increases capacity for WWU’s growing programs in electrical and computer engineering, energy science, and computer science but also sets a precedent as the first publicly funded zero-energy academic building on a university campus in Washington State.

Spanning approximately 54,000 square feet, Kaiser Borsari Hall boasts cutting-edge teaching spaces and hands-on learning environments. It features teaching labs, research labs for experiential learning opportunities, active classrooms designed to facilitate collaborative learning experiences, as well as administrative space.

Funded through a partnership between public and private sources including a lead donation along with state and federal funds; Perkins&Will provided design consulting while Mortenson served as general contractor and construction manager. The eco-friendly design of this structure incorporates advanced energy-saving technologies to achieve carbon neutrality while operating with zero-energy consumption.
