**Claire’s to Close Over 290 Stores Nationwide, Including Five in the Phoenix Area**
Claire’s, the popular mall boutique chain known for its accessories and jewelry targeted at tweens, teens, and young women, has announced plans to close more than 290 stores across the United States as part of its ongoing bankruptcy proceedings.
Among the closures are five locations in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Stores slated to close include:
– The Pavilions at Talking Stick
– The Shops at Norterra
– Christown Spectrum
– Arrowhead Towne Center
– Outlets North Phoenix
Despite these closures, three key Phoenix-area Claire’s stores will remain open. These include locations at Scottsdale Fashion Square, Phoenix Premium Outlets, and Arizona Mills in Tempe.
The company, Claire’s Holdings LLC, revealed in a recent court filing that it will shutter 235 Claire’s stores and 56 Icing stores nationwide. However, 830 stores — including 785 Claire’s and 45 Icing outlets — are not expected to be affected at this time.
This news comes shortly after Claire’s Holdings announced on August 20 the sale of its North American business to private equity firm Ames Watson for $104 million.
This restructuring decision aims to stabilize the brand’s operations and support long-term sustainability amid evolving retail market conditions.
