City of Chicago and State Unveil $250M Redevelopment Plan for 95th Street

Chicago State University and the City of Chicago have revealed their plans for a major development along 95th Street. The partnership aims to create a university village in the Roseland community, with initial funding from the Chicago Community Trust.

The project will focus on revitalizing 95th Street from Martin Luther King Drive to Cottage Grove Avenue, with an estimated cost of $250 million. This collaboration between city officials and the university is set to transform the South Side by introducing mixed-use buildings that will include academic and commercial spaces as well as student and family housing units.

While no funds have been secured yet for this ambitious undertaking, it is expected to complement other ongoing projects such as the $3.6 billion extension of CTA Red Line and renovations at 95th Street Metra station. This redevelopment plan has been met with enthusiasm by local residents who are eager for positive changes in their neighborhood.
