Skanska Integrated Solutions recently finished construction of the Josiah Quincy Upper School in Boston’s Chinatown neighborhood. The project, which cost $223 million, was a joint effort between Skanska, the City of Boston and the Massachusetts School Building Authority. The MSBA contributed $54 million towards funding.
The new school building spans 178,000 square feet and includes six stories to accommodate 650 students in grades 6-12 as well as 84 staff members. It features a total of 35 educational spaces and 29 classrooms along with impressive facilities such as an auditorium with seating for up to 435 people, a black box theater that can hold up to125 people, a spacious gym spanning over10,000 square feet,anda cafeteria with approximately250 seats.
According to Rohn MacNulty,the Deputy Directorofthe Public Facilities Department fortheCityofBoston,”Skanska did an exceptional job servingas OPM on this project.” He went on to praise their professionalismand expertise,stating that they werean invaluable resourcefor their team.The city highly recommends Skanskato others seeking OPM servicesin Massachusetts.This successful completion is yet another example of Skanska’s commitmentto excellencein public school projects within the Commonwealth.
