### City Council Approves Major Life Sciences Projects in Kips Bay

The New York City Council has approved the Science Park and Research Campus (SPARC) Kips Bay and Innovation East projects. This marks the completion of the public review process for both initiatives in Manhattan’s Kips Bay neighborhood. According to the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), these projects are key steps toward the city’s goal of developing 10 million square feet of life sciences space.

“The state-of-the-art projects at SPARC Kips Bay and Innovation East will not only drive significant economic impact but also create a strong talent pipeline through the city’s academic institutions and organizations,” said NYCEDC President & CEO Andrew Kimball.

SPARC Kips Bay is set to transform an entire city block, introducing more than two million square feet of academic, public health, and life sciences space. Meanwhile, the Innovation East development at 455 First Avenue will replace the outdated Public Health Lab with a modern life sciences hub.

These projects are expected to enhance the city’s life sciences sector while fostering economic growth and educational opportunities.
