**Children’s Hospital to Anchor $3B Veridea Development in Apex**

The $3 billion Veridea mixed-use development in Apex, North Carolina, will feature a major new children’s hospital, a collaborative project between UNC Health and Duke Health. Set within a 1,000-acre site developed by RXR, the ambitious venture will combine healthcare, residential, commercial, and research spaces.

At the heart of the development will be a 500-bed children’s hospital, located on a 230-acre medical campus at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Highway 540. The facility will include an outpatient care center, more than 100 pediatric and adolescent behavioral health beds, and a research and education component supported by the medical schools of UNC and Duke.

Upon full buildout, Veridea is expected to feature approximately 8,000 residential units along with 3.5 million square feet dedicated to retail, hospitality, and civic amenities. The commercial space will span 12 million square feet, including office and industrial uses.

Initial construction will include 200,000 square feet of retail space, with vertical development beginning in 2026, coinciding with the launch of the multifamily portion of the project.
