"Chicago's Quantum and Microelectronics Park to be Anchored by PsiQuantum"

After sitting vacant for years, the former U.S. Steel South Works site on Chicago’s Southeast Side is finally getting a new lease on life as the future home of the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP). This 500-acre property will be developed by Related Midwest and CRG, with PsiQuantum – a quantum tech company based in Palo Alto, California – serving as its anchor.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson joined forces with PsiQuantum, CRG, Clayco and other development partners to announce this exciting project at 8080 S. DuSable Lake Shore Drive. The first phase of development will cover approximately 128 acres at the southern end of the site. Lamar Johnson Collaborative has been chosen to design this initial phase which is expected to be completed in 2027; while Clayco has been selected as general contractor.

Michael Fassnacht, Chief Growth Officer and President of Chicagoland Region at Clayco expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership saying that it marks an important milestone towards creating a cutting-edge quantum campus that leads global research and innovation efforts.
