Chicago Studio Complex Topping Off: Northwest Side's First Purpose-Built Facility

Knickpoint Ventures recently completed construction of The Fields Studios, Chicago’s first purpose-built film studio. Located on the former Marshall Fields warehouse property on the city’s Northwest Side, this project includes nine sound stages and more than 350,000 square feet of creative and production offices across two lots totaling 132,000 square feet.

Shawn Papazian from Knickpoint commented that “The Fields Studios can accommodate a variety of projects – from large-scale productions with significant set design needs to smaller boutique projects – in an environment designed to foster collaboration and creativity”. He added that their approach is focused on providing facilities built for today’s stringent production specifications while allowing for future capacity growth as technology advances.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker also weighed in saying “This project is an economic growth engine for Illinois [that] reenergizes our growing film industry while supporting other industries too”.
