Chicago School Purchases Former Tyson Foods Building

The Community Solution Education System and The Chicago School have jointly acquired a 247,000 square foot office building in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago. Formerly the site of Tyson Foods headquarters, this facility is set to open in 2025 and will accommodate approximately 1,800 students, faculty, and staff from both institutions.

Redeveloped by Sterling Bay in 2012 and sold for nearly $98 million to Cole Real Estate Investments in 2013, this state-of-the-art space will also house the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine – the first new medical school proposed for Chicago in over a century. With lecture halls, classrooms, laboratories, and collaborative learning areas, this campus is expected to increase pedestrian traffic and create business growth opportunities within the district.

Mayor Brandon Johnson expressed excitement about plans for community leaders focused on mental health as well as addressing inequities within this modernized space. As we look forward to welcoming nearly two thousand students, faculty, and guestsinthe years ahead, the former Tyson Foods building has been successfully transformed into an innovative hub for educationand progress.
