**Grand Opening Set for Chicago Board of Trade Building Museum**
R2 Companies and city stakeholders are officially unveiling the newly established Chicago Board of Trade Building (CBOTB) Museum at 141 W. Jackson, in the heart of Chicago’s financial district. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set to mark the occasion.
The museum, located in a formerly vacant retail space near the building’s north lobby, now holds large-scale graphics, video presentations, and historic artifacts that tell the story of this iconic building. The initiative is part of a broader effort by R2 Companies and Apollo Global Management to reposition the 1.4-million-square-foot Chicago Board of Trade Building. Their plans include transforming the historic structure into a dynamic space for creative offices, retail stores, restaurants, and modern amenities.
Partial funding for the museum came through the city’s Small Business Improvement Fund (SBIF), which supports retail revitalization projects. Mayor Brandon Johnson announced a $250,000 grant as part of the initial round of SBIF funding for the LaSalle Street Reimagined initiative.
Built in 1930, the Chicago Board of Trade Building is a notable example of Art Deco architecture. It was designated a Chicago landmark in 1977 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The museum aims to preserve and celebrate the building’s storied history while supporting the ongoing revitalization of Chicago’s central business district.
