"Charlotte Mixed-Use Project: Childress Klein Seeks New Zoning Approval"

Childress Klein has requested a rezoning from the city of Charlotte for their 213,000 square foot office property located at 2101 Rexford Road. The developer plans to transform the property into a mixed-use development, potentially including up to 675 multifamily units and 277,000 square feet of office space.

According to reports from the Charlotte Business Journal, Childress Klein purchased the property in June of 2023 for $31 million. The existing Esplanade at SouthPark was originally built in 1982 and underwent renovations in 2015. Notable tenants currently occupying space include Noble Insurance Advisors, McMichael & Gray and Terrascope Public Relations.

The proposed development also includes an adjacent parcel known as Rexford Park II – a separate office building spanning over approximately77 ,000 square feet located at2115 Rexford Road.
