Central Washington Named a Top Emerging Data Center Market

Central Washington is rapidly gaining national attention as a premier location for data center development, thanks to its abundant hydropower resources and ample land availability. A recent report by Cushman & Wakefield ranked the region among the top 10 emerging data markets, highlighting its growing significance in the digital infrastructure landscape.

The surge in interest is largely driven by hyperscale companies seeking to expand computing power to support artificial intelligence and other data-intensive operations. Central Washington is now considered one of the fastest-growing markets in the sector.

The report emphasizes that many of the largest hyperscale tenants are focused on reducing their carbon footprint while pursuing large-scale development projects. Washington State already hosts a number of significant data centers, with key locations including East Wenatchee, Quincy, and the greater Seattle area. Microsoft, in particular, has established a strong presence in Quincy and is actively expanding operations in East Wenatchee and Malaga.

This momentum underscores Central Washington’s strategic role in meeting the future demands of cloud services, AI, and digital transformation.
