Celebrate Mattapan Square's Affordable Mixed-Use Housing Community

Celebrating its grand opening, The Loop at Mattapan Station is a new 135-unit affordable mixed-use housing community in Boston’s Mattapan Square. Built on a vacant and underutilized MBTA parking lot adjacent to the Mattapan trolley line station, the income-restricted units and 10,000 square feet of first-floor retail space were constructed using passive house energy efficiency standards.

Financing for this project was provided by the City of Boston’s Mayor’s Office of Housing as well as tax credit equity from Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). MassHousing supplied $36.5 million in affordable housing financing including $17.4 million in permanent financing, $16.1 million in tax exempt bridge financing plus an additional $3 million from their Workforce Housing Initiative program .

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu expressed her enthusiasm for The Loop at Mattapan Station: “This project is a model for mission driven work creating affordable housing for working families while building stronger neighborhoods throughout our city.”
