Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has purchased the Beverly Connection shopping center, a retail complex located roughly half a mile from the hospital’s main campus. The seller, Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp., transferred the 10-acre property at 100 N. La Cienega Blvd. to the health system for a reported $270 million, according to L.A. Business First.
Cedars-Sinai has indicated that the acquisition is a long-range strategic move rather than an immediate redevelopment initiative. For now, the organization has stated that shoppers and retailers at Beverly Connection should not expect changes to operations or tenancy as a result of the transaction.
The medical center described the purchase as a way to secure future options for its campus. Leadership has framed the deal as part of a broader effort to ensure that the hospital can continue to expand and modernize its facilities over time, with an eye toward maintaining access to advanced care for patients and the surrounding community.
By controlling a large retail site in close proximity to its existing footprint, Cedars-Sinai is positioning itself to potentially reshape its campus configuration if and when needs evolve. While no specific redevelopment plans have been announced, the transaction underscores the hospital’s interest in preserving flexibility in a dense urban environment where large contiguous sites are limited.
The acquisition also highlights ongoing investor interest in well-located retail real estate that can serve both immediate income-generating purposes and longer-term strategic objectives. In this case, Beverly Connection continues to function as an active shopping center even as it becomes part of Cedars-Sinai’s broader real estate strategy in Los Angeles.
