"CBRE Reports: AI Drives Growth in Tech Talent Job Market"

According to CBRE’s annual Scoring Tech Talent report, the demand for tech workers in artificial intelligence (AI) increased in 2023, despite slower overall job growth in the tech industry last year. This marks a significant shift as non-tech industries hired more tech employees than the traditional tech sector for the first time since the report’s inception 11 years ago.

Colin Yasukochi, executive director of CBRE’s Tech Insights Center, stated that this increase is driven by a growing need for specialized skill sets in AI across all sectors. He also predicts continued growth and hiring within this field throughout 2024 and into 2025.

While overall U.S. tech talent employment grew by only 3.6% in 2023 compared to a rate of7.3% in 2022, there was an uptick of hiring momentum among non-tech employers with professional & business services leading the way.

The top three clusters for AI talent are located within major cities such as San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle and New York metro area which account for nearly half (44%) of all domestic AI jobs totaling at around285235 positions. In Canada,Toronto,VancouverandMontrealaretheleadingmarketsforAItalent.
