Consolidating leasing, sales, valuation and debt advisory under a single market leader at CBRE should streamline capital advisory coverage for investors focused on Pittsburgh.

CBRE has appointed Gary Scalise as managing director and market leader for its Pittsburgh operations, adding an experienced executive to oversee the firm's advisory platform in the region. In his new position, Scalise will guide the day-to-day activities of all Advisory Services business lines serving the Pittsburgh market.

His remit spans leasing, investment sales, valuation and advisory, as well as debt and structured finance services across all property types. CBRE said the leadership change is intended to support coordinated delivery of its offerings to clients active in the local market.

Scalise's arrival follows a leadership transition at the firm. Mamadou Baldé, who had led CBRE's Pittsburgh market beginning in 2022, moved into a new role in September 2025 overseeing the company's Greater Philadelphia market. With that shift, CBRE has turned to Scalise to assume responsibility for the Pittsburgh business.

CBRE executives cited Scalise's experience and local relationships as factors in the decision. According to the firm, his track record in handling complex business challenges and working closely with clients positions him to guide the market team through evolving conditions. The company also pointed to his familiarity with the region as an advantage as he takes on the leadership role.

Michael Copella, Senior Managing Director and Eastern Midwest Regional Leader for CBRE, noted that the firm views Scalise as a strong fit to lead its Pittsburgh market organization. Copella said the combination of Scalise's leadership background and his understanding of the local market should support continued expansion of CBRE's business lines in the area.

Scalise brings more than 25 years of experience in business development, client relations and office management. Before joining CBRE, he most recently served as a managing director at Ernst & Young, where he was involved in leading client-focused initiatives and managing professional services teams. CBRE is adding that experience to its regional platform as it seeks to deepen its advisory capabilities in Pittsburgh.

With this hire, CBRE has formalized a new leadership structure for its Pittsburgh operations following Baldé's move to Greater Philadelphia. The firm is positioning Scalise at the center of its local advisory efforts, with responsibility for aligning leasing, sales, valuation and capital markets professionals serving a broad mix of property types.
