"Caterpillar Invests $90M in Upgrading SA Factory for Increased Production"

Caterpillar Inc. has announced a $90 million investment in two of its facilities located in the San Antonio suburbs of Schertz and Seguin. This investment will be used to prepare the sites for production of their new Cat C13D industrial diesel engine, with $70 million allocated for equipment installations in Schertz and $20 million supporting engine assembly in Seguin.

The company plans to add 25 new jobs at the Schertz facility, which is expected to begin producing C13D engines by 2026. These engines are part of Caterpillar’s recently released 13-liter diesel platform that serves heavy-duty off-highway applications such as agriculture, construction, and mining.

In recent years, Caterpillar relocated its corporate headquarters from Deerfield, Illinois to Irving, Texas.
