Car-Free Apartments in Charlotte: A New Way to Live

According to Grubb Properties, the cost of constructing a parking spot is $30,000. However, by choosing not to build a parking garage, the company can offer affordable pricing for middle-income tenants. Additionally, due to its convenient location for biking activities, the company has decided to develop a car-free apartment community called Link Apartments Cykel. This new development will be located at 539 State St and is expected to be ready for occupancy in September. It boasts direct access and proximity to uptown through its connection with the streetcar line and Stewart Creek Greenway.

The apartment complex will consist of 104 units equipped with two large elevators and two sets of wide sliding doors in the main bike room. The property offers both studio and one-bedroom units. At Link Cykel, half of these units will have rent set at 80% of the area median income while others will be rented out at market rates.

In addition to these features, there will also be a micromarket on-site that provides snacks and other essentials for residents’ convenience.
