Seattle Theatre Group has recently acquired a 103-year-old property from Cornish College of the Arts. The building, known as Kerry Hall and located at 710 E. Roy St., was originally built in 1921 and served as the home of Nellie Cornish, the college’s founder.
The purchase was made by Seattle Theatre Group, which owns and operates three historic theaters in Seattle: Paramount, Moore, and Neptune. In addition to these venues, they also have an outdoor location at Remlinger Farms in Carnation.
Cornish Interim President Emily Parkhurst expressed her excitement about turning over this special space to such a respected arts institution like Seattle Theatre Group. She also noted that it was important for the Board of Trustees that Nellie Cornish’s legacy be honored by keeping the building within the arts community.
With this new acquisition, Seattle Theatre Group plans to use Kerry Hall to further expand its community-centered arts programming initiatives. This sale marks another milestone for both organizations as they continue their commitment towards promoting art and culture within their local communities.
