**C.W. Driver Launches $175M Modernization of Long Beach Polytechnic High School**
C.W. Driver Companies, a builder with extensive experience in educational facility construction, has officially broken ground on a $175 million modernization of Long Beach Polytechnic High School, part of the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD).
This large-scale project will involve the construction of a new 65,000-square-foot Career and Technical Education (CTE) classroom building, interim student housing, and modernization efforts across eight historic campus buildings. The initiative is designed to enhance student learning environments while preserving the school’s architectural heritage.
The work will be carried out in three strategic phases:
– **Phase One** focuses on site improvements, utility upgrades, and the construction of interim housing to maintain school operations during renovation.
– **Phases Two and Three** will transition existing campus areas into modernized academic and student support spaces, enhancing functionality and access to updated educational resources.
Interim housing will consist of a dedicated complex featuring 52 portable classrooms, four restroom buildings, and a lunch shelter—ensuring educational continuity for students during the construction process.
This project marks the fourth collaboration between C.W. Driver Companies and LBUSD, further demonstrating the firm’s commitment to advancing public education infrastructure in Southern California.
