**Burlington BioCenter Acquired by Owner-User, Reportedly Northeastern University**
Newmark has arranged the sale of Burlington BioCenter, a state-of-the-art life science facility located in Burlington, Massachusetts. The 109,085-square-foot building was sold to an undisclosed owner-user, though multiple published sources report that the buyer is Northeastern University.
The seller, MetLife Investment Management, acquired the property in 2022 for $103 million as part of a strategic office-to-life-science conversion.
The transaction was led by Newmark’s Co-Head of U.S. Capital Markets, Robert Griffin, along with Boston Capital Markets Executive Vice Chairman Edward Maher, Vice Chairman Matthew Pullen, Executive Managing Director James Tribble, Senior Managing Director Samantha Hallowell, and Associate Director William Sleeper. Completed in 2019, with interior laboratory buildouts finalized in 2022, the BioCenter features high-performance laboratory infrastructure designed to meet the evolving demands of life science tenants.
The facility’s strategic location and move-in-ready design make it a standout property in the Greater Boston life sciences market.
