Building a $200M Biological Field Center in Dripping Springs

The University of Texas (UT) is set to build a $200 million biological field center in Dripping Springs, located on the Pedernales River. The project will be funded by a generous donation of $50 million from RealPage founder and Mirasol Capital CEO Steve Winn, with the remaining funds coming from UT itself.

In addition to the field station, Mirasol Springs – where it will be located – will also feature a hotel, cottages and homesites. This marks one of six such stations across Texas that are used for research purposes across various disciplines as well as environmental study and educational outreach experiences for students.
Construction is expected to begin within this year with an aim at opening in early 2026.
