Brookridge Redevelopment: $2B Project Finally Gets Underway After Years of Delays

After nine years of delays, construction has finally begun on the long-awaited $2 billion Brookridge redevelopment project in Overland Park. Curtin Property Cos., a developer based out of Overland Park, has started infrastructure work at the site located at Antioch Road and Interstate 435 with assistance from Kevin Sloan Studio + WDG and GBA. The plans for this massive undertaking include 4 million square feet of office space, 2,000 apartments, a variety of restaurants and retail stores as well as two hotels spread across more than 100 acres along with green spaces.

The development received an $8 million grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation which reduced pay-as-you-go tax increment financing allocation for three tranches to lower its maximum TIF to $151.6 million while also receiving an additional $10 million BASE (Building a Stronger Economy) grant from Kansas plus another estimated sum amounting up to approximately $46.5 million in district financing altogether making it one among many major projects that have been funded by grants recently .
