**Blackstone REIT CEO Wesley LePatner Among Victims in Fatal Midtown Manhattan Shooting**
Wesley LePatner, CEO of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust (BREIT), was among four people tragically killed in a shooting Monday evening at 345 Park Avenue, the headquarters of Blackstone, in Midtown Manhattan. LePatner was 43 years old.
Blackstone paid tribute to LePatner in a public statement, expressing deep sorrow over the loss.
“Words cannot express the devastation we feel. Wesley was a beloved member of the Blackstone family and will be sorely missed. She was brilliant, passionate, warm, generous, and deeply respected within our firm and beyond. She embodied the best of Blackstone. Our prayers are with her husband, children, and family,” the statement read.
The company also conveyed condolences for the other victims, which included security personnel and members of the NYPD.
LePatner, who also served as Global Head of Core+ Real Estate at Blackstone, joined the firm in 2014 following more than a decade at Goldman Sachs, where she was a managing director in the Real Estate Investment Group within the Asset Management Division. She was also a prominent advocate for gender equity in finance and chaired Blackstone’s Women’s Initiative.
Authorities identified the shooter as Shane Devon Tamura, a resident of Las Vegas. According to reports, Tamura entered the building lobby and opened fire before proceeding to a floor he believed housed the offices of the National Football League, which shares office space at 345 Park Avenue. Mistaken in his location, he ultimately turned the gun on himself, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The deadly incident has left the New York City business and real estate communities in shock, with ongoing investigations seeking further clarity on the motive behind the attack.
