"Breaking Ground: 2CyrusOne's New Aurora Data Center Homes"

CyrusOne, a leading global developer and operator of data centers, recently marked the beginning of construction for its newest facility in Aurora, Illinois.

This new campus will be CyrusOne’s second location in the city and will consist of two buildings spanning 446,000 square feet. It is expected to have an initial IT capacity of 40 megawatts. This expansion is part of the company’s larger investment strategy to expand its presence in Illinois with a total capital investment exceeding $1 billion.

According to Eric Schwartz, CEO at CyrusOne: “As Chicagoland continues to rank as one of the top three data center markets nationally with increasing demand, this expansion perfectly aligns with our strategic plan to enhance our capacity and capabilities.”

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by notable figures such as Governor JB Pritzker from Illinois, Mayor Richard Irvin from Aurora and Gil Quiniones – President & CEO at ComEd. Governor Pritzker stated that this milestone represents years’ worth partnership between CyrusOne and their team while also creating hundreds jobs during construction phase along with over twenty permanent positions within their state.
