The Boston Planning and Development Agency (BPDA) has given the green light for a new planning initiative in Charlestown, along with two significant projects within the neighborhood. These include a 22-story residential tower and a large mixed-use development at Sullivan Square. The decision was reported by Boston Business Journal.
The primary goal of this planning initiative is to promote the construction of new housing, improve transportation options, and expand open spaces in the area. Despite facing opposition from residents and elected officials who expressed concerns about excessive density in Charlestown, BPDA went ahead with approving it.
According to BPDA’s statement, extensive community feedback played a crucial role in reaching this decision while also ensuring ongoing dialogue for future projects. In addition to that, they have also given their approval for another project consisting of 503 apartment units as well as a mixed-use development featuring both residential units and lab-office components at Sullivan Square.
