"Boutique Hotel to Take Over Historic Nashville Building"

The Morris Memorial building, located in Nashville, is undergoing a transformation thanks to Imagine Hospitality. The developer plans to turn the historic structure into a boutique hotel with an underground speakeasy. A concept plan for the six-story mixed-use development has been submitted by the firm, which includes 128 rooms and a 6,970-square-foot speakeasy in the existing basement. Consortium, an architecture firm based in Franklin, is leading the design for this project.

In December of last year, Imagine Hospitality purchased the Morris building for $10 million. The location at 330 Dr. Martin L King Jr Blvd holds significance as it was once where Black people were sold into slavery and was designed by McKissack & McKissack – a Black-owned architecture firm. For many years it served as home to Nashville Baptist Convention where hymnals and songbooks were printed.

Imagine Hospitality has established itself as a prominent hotel developer in Nashville with projects such as Home2 Suites and Fairfield Inn & Suites at MetroCenter and Hotel Preston near the airport area under their belt.
