**Boston Planning Approves City’s First Hotel Under Net Zero Carbon Zoning**
The Boston Planning & Development Agency has given the green light to what will become Boston’s first hotel developed under Net Zero Carbon zoning regulations. Known as The Allston, the seven-story, 96-room hotel will rise at 393 Cambridge Street in the neighborhood of Allston. The project is one of two hospitality developments recently approved by the agency.
Developed by Nominee Trust, The Allston will be built on a site currently occupied by an Advance Auto Parts store. As part of its public realm improvement commitments, the developer will enhance the surrounding infrastructure with new landscaping, widened sidewalks, street trees, a raised pedestrian crosswalk, and improved pedestrian access.
In South Boston, DGH Hotel Partners received approval for a substantial 438-room hotel at 371-401 D Street, located directly across from the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The development will expand the area’s existing hospitality offerings, joining the Aloft and Element hotels—also developed by DGH. The approved plan includes a reconfiguration of the Element Hotel to accommodate additional guest rooms.
These projects reflect the city’s push for more sustainable development while continuing to meet growing demand in Boston’s hotel sector.
