Boston/Cambridge Takes the Top Spot for Life Sciences R&D Talent in Latest CBRE Report

According to CBRE’s annual U.S. Life Sciences Talent Trends report, the Boston/Cambridge metro area has secured its position as the leading market for life sciences employment across BioPharma R&D, manufacturing, and medtech fields. This dominance can be attributed to the region’s top universities and highly educated workforce.

In terms of BioPharma R&D specifically, Boston/Cambridge ranks first nationally with a total of 52,270 employees including medical scientists and biochemists/biophysicists. It also holds second place in BioPharma manufacturing with 27,950 jobs led by inspectors, testers and biological technicians. In medtech industries it ranks third with 41,340 jobs primarily consisting of industrial engineers and electronic assemblers.

The latest report evaluates the top 100 U.S. life sciences labor markets highlighting Boston/Cambridge’s unique position as being one of only three markets to rank within the top three for all major BioPharma subsectors.
