Biogen Inc. has announced plans to move its headquarters into a 16-story tower in Kendall Square, a project being developed by MIT and BioMed Realty. According to the *Boston Business Journal*, the biotech company has signed a 15-year lease for 580,000 square feet in the new building.

The new headquarters will be the first completed structure within MIT’s Kendall Common, a 10-acre mixed-use development being constructed on the former Volpe transportation complex. This move aims to streamline Biogen’s previously dispersed operations within the neighborhood.

Biogen’s relocation is expected to take place in 2028 once the construction of 75 Broadway is completed. The *Boston Business Journal* initially reported in December that MIT and Biogen were in advanced lease negotiations, with the involvement of BioMed Realty, a Blackstone affiliate, officially disclosed later. While BioMed is collaborating with MIT on 75 Broadway, it is not involved in other components of the Kendall Common development, which will eventually include eight buildings.
