**Big Lots Makes a Comeback in the Southeast Under New Ownership**

After declaring bankruptcy and liquidating its merchandise last September, Big Lots is making a return to the retail scene. The turnaround comes after Variety Wholesalers, a discount retailer with more than 400 stores across the United States, stepped in to acquire hundreds of leases with plans to continue operating under the Big Lots brand.

Variety Wholesalers, parent company of well-known discount chains such as Roses, Maxway, and Super 10, is reintroducing Big Lots stores with a fresh approach. According to company representatives, customers can expect expanded merchandise offerings, including entirely new product categories.

As part of the relaunch, 25 Big Lots stores will reopen in North Carolina, along with eight in South Carolina, ten in Tennessee, and 11 in Georgia.

Industry observers note that under Variety’s leadership, Big Lots is evolving into what is, in many ways, a new company—one guided by established operational strategies and a commitment to value-focused shopping.

Big Lots’ return marks a significant shift in the discount retail landscape, signaling both resilience and adaptation in a challenging market.
