Berkadia has expanded its investment sales capabilities in Boston with the addition of senior managing directors Kevin Gleason and Brendan Shields and director Maggie McFarland. The trio joins the firm's investment sales platform and will concentrate on multifamily assets, deepening Berkadia's coverage of the New England region. Their move brings additional experience to the company's existing capital markets services as multifamily investors continue to evaluate opportunities across the area.
Gleason, Shields, and McFarland specialize in multifamily investment sales and capitalizations, working with clients on both property dispositions and equity and capital solutions. Their practice focuses on assignments across New England, giving them familiarity with a wide range of apartment and rental housing product types and ownership profiles. According to Berkadia, the team has built strong relationships with multifamily owners and investors, which the firm expects to integrate into its broader platform.
Collectively, the group brings more than 40 years of commercial real estate experience to Berkadia. Over the course of their careers, they have completed in excess of $15 billion in transaction volume spanning property sales and capitalizations. That track record reflects both traditional investment sales work and the structuring of capital stacks, positioning the team to advise clients on a variety of multifamily strategies as market conditions evolve.
Berkadia noted that Gleason, Shields, and McFarland will work closely with its mortgage banking professionals in the region. The intention is to pair investment sales capabilities with debt placement expertise to provide a more comprehensive service offering for clients. By aligning the new investment sales team with mortgage banking partners, Berkadia aims to streamline execution for multifamily owners and investors seeking both sales and financing solutions within a single platform.
Before joining Berkadia, the trio was part of Walker & Dunlop's investment sales platform in Boston, where they focused on multifamily transactions. Their experience there further developed their relationships with institutional and private capital active in the region's apartment markets. Earlier in their careers, Gleason, Shields, and McFarland spent five years within the Capital Markets Group at JLL, working on a range of assignments tied to multifamily investment sales and capitalizations.
The team's background across multiple national capital markets firms provides continuity for clients accustomed to working with them on multifamily dispositions and recapitalizations. Their move to Berkadia adds another option for owners, investors, and lenders that are active in New England's multifamily sector and looking for integrated sales and mortgage banking services. While no specific assignments were announced in connection with the team's transition, Berkadia's statement emphasizes the goal of creating a well-rounded, client-focused offering anchored by experienced transaction professionals.
