Bellevue College Breaks Ground on $54M Arts Building
Bellevue College has officially broken ground on its new W Building, a 56,618-square-foot arts facility set to expand and modernize the college’s 100-acre campus. This ambitious $54 million project will increase the total building footprint on campus to over 1 million square feet and aims to transform the student experience through state-of-the-art, collaborative learning environments.
Designed by architecture firm Mithun and constructed by Comer General Contractors, the new W Building will feature a suite of creative spaces, including studios, workshops, a gallery, and a dedicated makerspace. These additions will support Bellevue College’s growing focus on STEAM education, where art and technology intersect.
“The W Building is a launchpad for creativity,” said Chad White, Chair of the Art Department. Slated for completion in winter 2027, the facility will also incorporate sustainable design features and cutting-edge equipment, fostering interdisciplinary innovation and enhancing opportunities for student collaboration.
College leaders and city officials marked the start of construction with a groundbreaking ceremony, celebrating the investment in both students and the community’s creative future.
