Bears Discuss Staying at Soldier Field with Mayor Johnson

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson recently met with the Chicago Bears to discuss the possibility of keeping them in their hometown. While details of their discussion were not disclosed, Johnson made it clear that he wants the Monsters of the Midway to remain local. “We want to make sure we keep shuffling here in the city of Chicago with the Bears,” he said. “I want to make sure ownership, Park District and residents all have a real seat at this table as we consider our pathway forward.”

The meeting follows talks between Naperville’s Mayor Scott Wherli and team representatives regarding building a newer facility along with mixed-used development area on 326 acres formerly occupied by Arlington Raceway in Arlington Heights. However, tax issues have put this plan into jeopardy leading both parties back to square one for further consideration.

Soldier Field remains an option for home games as negotiations continue between Mayor Johnson and The Bears organization towards finding an amicable solution that benefits all involved parties while keeping football alive within Chicago city limits .
