LG Chem, a leading company in South Korea, is set to commence construction on its $3.2 billion battery plant in Montgomery County, Tennessee on December 19th. This groundbreaking ceremony marks the largest corporate investment ever made in the state. The facility will cater to four major automakers that have established their presence for electric cars within Tennessee.
In exchange for a $40 million grant from the state and a 20-year tax break from Montgomery County, LG Chem has committed to creating 860 jobs at this new plant. These positions will offer starting wages of $24 per hour and approximately 200 jobs with an annual salary of at least $100,000.
The construction of this factory will be carried out by JE Dunn Construction Co., known for their expertise and experience in building large-scale projects.
